He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.

Goals Quotation - Friedrich Nietzsche

I’m basing my first post on this quotation because I know it is true. What are our goals? They are the why that drives our actions. Some goals are big, life changing desires that keep us going for years. They are the goals that are sometimes called our purpose, our ultimate goal. Those goals drive us to achieve things that many people won’t even attempt. Why? Because they are desires that we must have. There is no choice!

Now, when you have important goals you will take action. You can’t help yourself. You have a dream that will keep you going through all the “stuff” you need to go through. If the goal isn’t really important to you, the “stuff” will stop you. You’ll put the goal aside and forget about it. That goal wasn’t really a why, it was more like a wish, a “nice-to-have.”

The goals you have that are truly a why aren’t like that. They will propel you into action. They will sustain you when the going is tough. You will bear them because they are the how for achieving your why. It won’t matter to you that other people don’t reach your goal, you know it’s different for you. It is your goal, and you will reach it.

That’s what Nietzsche was talking about. You can bear the how, it’s worth it!

I heard another great achiever say it this way…”If the dream is big enough, the facts don’t count!”

Here’s to your dreams and to your success. Launch your goals and you’re on your way to the top!

Note: I hope you’ve noticed that there is a “Goal Quotations” block on the left side of this site. Check it out each time you come here, there will be different quotations showing up regularly to help inspire you.
