My weekly quotation amplification starts with a quotation from Florence Scovel Shinn. Florence said, “Man can only receive what he sees himself receiving.”

What Goals Do You See Yourself Achieving?

Have you ever wondered why so many books about goal setting or success start with asking you who you want to be in the future? They ask about your dreams, your big aspirations, and your values. They start by asking you to visualize yourself having already achieved the goal and to see yourself enjoying the benefits that you expect that goal to bring.

No one should tell you that you’ll have everything you dream. If anyone ever does, you should think about which of these two things might be true:

Now, I’m not one to cast dispersions on others, especially people I won’t ever know. But, if you think you’ll have everything you dream of, or visualize, you need to start working on bigger dreams.

Remember, if you don’t dream it or “see it,” you have almost no chance of receiving it. Just as Florence Scovel Shinn said!

Note: I hope you’ve noticed that there is a “Goal Quotations” block on the left side of this site. Check it out each time you come here; there will be different quotations showing up regularly to help inspire you.
