I once heard a very successful businessman say “Discipline is remembering what you want.” Isn’t that it in a nutshell?

Goals Are Discipline

Why do we set goals? Because we want to achieve whatever that goal represents. So, why don’t we always reach those goals?

Now you’re probably thinking “Well, that’s what this is all about, isn’t it?”

Ok, I’m not going to pretend it’s that simple. But, often we don’t reach our goals because “life gets in the way.” We often have good, worthy goals that we start pursuing. But, somehow we get off track. How? Life!

All of us have plenty of things going on in our lives. Some things are urgent and some things are important. Some things are both! If you have a job, a family, religious commitments, exercise routines, … and on and on and on…

Now you decide to get serious about reaching a goal. It’s important or you wouldn’t set it. You get started. Then, life… Face it, there are a lot of demands on us and sometimes we get so wrapped up in whatever the normal things are that we just get sidetracked from that goal we set.

What was it that successful person said? Discipline is remembering what you want.

Reaching any goal is going to take discipline. We need to keep the goal in front of us so we remember to include whatever the action plan is into our daily life. We need to remember it!

Sounds simple? It is! Sounds easy? It may not be, but it is important. You will need to keep that goal in front of you so you remember it. And, if you remember it and it is truly important to you, you will greatly increase your odds of reaching it.
